Having watched so many documentaries and features on Vietnam for decades, we were mentally prepared for disappointment. Yet for the entire 60 minutes, we were glued to the screen like two teenagers in front of a MTV show. When it ended, we remained silent for a while as we needed some extra time to savour the enchanting after-effects of a romantic poem or a boiling bowl of Pho with friends on a cold, wintry evening. You have succeeded like no one else before in weaving the tragedy of war, the longing for piece, the joy of love and the determination to work for a bright future.
Tran Van Dinh, Washington DC

Congratulations on a moving tribute to a unique man. You have given us food for thought and the soul.

Please accept my congratulations on the Peterson documentary. I expected it to be interesting. I didn’t expect to be so genuinely moved. You washed away with my tears, a little more pain that is still left from my first trip to Vietnam. Ambassador Peterson is right. We must all work “ to make something good out of something that was bad.”
Kenneth J. Herrman, Jr.

Pete Peterson: Assignment Hanoi is a wonderful accomplishment. Beautiful camera work, eloquent writing. Don’t know when I’ve been so moved. At last a film that demonstrates clearly to the Americans the terrible human losses suffered by the Vietnamese. As for Peterson, compared to the political pygmies on the stump over here (Peterson) looks like a giant.
